Makah Nation hopes to bring back traditional justice
The Makah Nation of Washington is trying to revive traditional forms of justice, Chairman Micah McCarty said.

McCarty said the tribe lost its restorative justice traditions with the arrival of Europeans. He said people need alternative forms of punishment to address the root causes of crime.

"We haven't been doing enough to provide the restorative systems as resources for the tribal judge to use," said McCarty, The Peninsula Daily News reported.
