A city in Minnesota says it will finally be at the table for future land-into-trust applications by the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community.

As part of a settlement approved this week, the city of Shakopee dropped its opposition to the tribe's acquisition of 752 acres. In exchange, the Bureau of Indian Affairs will alert the city within days of any future trust application and ask the tribe to sit down with the city and discuss its applications.

Shakopee was the only holdout to the tribe's application. The city of Prior Lake and Scott County dropped their opposition a while back.
