Four Arizona tribes donated $30,000 to a political action committee whose honorary chair is Gov. Janet Napolitano (D), the Associated Press reports.
The Salt River Pima Maricopa Indian Community and the Tohono O'odham Nation each gave $10,000 to the Competitive Edge PAC. The Ak-Chin Indian Community and the Yavapai Apache Nation each gave $5,000.
President-elect Barack Obama is expected to nominate Napolitano as Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security. She has a strong relationship with the tribes in her state and served on the Native American Issues Subcommittee at the Department of Justice when she was U.S. Attorney in Arizona.
