A major storm has crippled the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota, parts of which have been out of power for five days.
Wanblee, a town of about 550, is among the hardest hit. Residents have been living at a school building since Wednesday.
"It's been a real nightmare," Phyllis Wilcox told The Rapid City Journal.
Residents said they haven't received help from the Oglala Sioux
Tribe, the federal government or other institutions. "We have no water, not food, no heat," Susan Thunder Shield said. "We're lost, we don't know what to do."
It could be another week before power is fully restored.
