Sen. Ted Stevens (R-Alaska) is holding onto a slim lead in his race against Anchorage Mayor Mark Begich (D).
Just a week before the election, Stevens was convicted by a federal jury of making false statements. He plans to appeal but won't give up his Senate seat even if he wins the race, giving him the distinction of the only convicted felon to serve in the chamber.
Senate leaders have said they will move to expel Stevens if he does not step down.
