Melanie Benjamin, the chief executive of the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe in Minnesota, was removed from office on Wednesday.
The tribe didn't explain why Benjamin was being removed but she was being accused of using tribal funds for personal use. The FBI is reportedly investigating the tribe's community development department.
Herbert Weyaus Sr. has been appointed interim CEO.
