The Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe of Massachusetts says it will start renovations on the Old Indian Meeting House in the next week. The meeting house was built in 1684 and was used as evidence of the tribe's continuous existence. But attempts to renovate have failed to get off the ground over the last several years. That has changed with the tribe's federal recognition. Along with a $200,00 grant from the state, the tribe hopes to complete exterior renovations in four months.
