KILI-FM, the Voice of the Lakota Nation, received a unique gift for its 25th birthday.
The radio station, based on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota, will use a wind turbine to broadcast across Lakota Country. The $120,000 turbine is a gift from Honor the Earth, the environmental organization founded by activist Winona LaDuke..
The turbine will cut down energy costs for the station by as much as two-thirds.
