More than 60 caribou carcasses discarded in Alaska
More than 60 unharvested caribou carcasses were discarded near Inupiat Eskimo villages in northwest Alaska this month. State authorities have been investigating the incident but they say residents of Point Hope and Kivalina are not cooperating. Five suspects from Point Hope have been identified though tribal leaders say they have been kept out of the loop. "We feel that we should be the ones to handle it after the investigation is done," Point Hope President Jack Schaefer told The Anchorage Daily News.
