The Navajo Nation evacuated 14 families in the Leupp, Arizona, area due to flooding.
With the Little Colorado River overflowing, the tribe has blocked off roads into Leupp. The Department of Emergency Management says it will take five days to stabilize the river.
Navajo President Joe Shirley Jr. declared a state of emergency this week due to inclement weather, poor road conditions and flooding. Tribal employees were sent home early yesterday and are on a two-hour day today.
The tribe has set up emergency operations centers in New Mexico and Arizona.
