Terrence Tremaine, a former university lecturer in Saskatchewan, was charged on Thursday with spreading hate on the Internet.
Tremaine, 59, is part of a white supremacist group. In postings on a site
called the Stormfront, he
targeted Native people, Jewish people and other ethnic and religious groups.
In response, Tremaine said he used to be married to a part-Native women
and has three mixed-race children [Wikipedia].
But the Canadian Human Rights Commission earlier this year fined him $4,000 and
ordered him to stop using phone lines to spread hate [Ruling].
David Ahenakew, a Native leader in Saskatchewan, was charged with a hate crime for remarks about Hitler, the Holocaust and Jewish people. He has won a court ruling for a new trial.
