Senate vote on IHCIA delayed until next week

The Senate is expected to vote next week on the Indian Health Care Improvement Act.

Democrats began debate on the bill on Tuesday with the hopes of passing it that day. But a veto threat from the White House and competing legislative priorities delayed action.

Sen. Byron Dorgan (D-North Dakota), the chairman of the Senate Indian Affairs Committee, is expecting numerous amendments. The National Indian Health Board has the full text here.
