Northern Cheyenne youth complete 400-mile run
Youth of the Northern Cheyenne Tribe of Montana completed the 12th annual Fort Robinson Outbreak Spiritual Run on Monday. About 130 young tribal members took part in the 400-mile run. It is held every year to commemorate the escape of Chief Dull Knife about 150 Cheyennes from Fort Robinson in Nebraska in 1879. "Dull Knife was captured on the way to the Lakotas," 17-year-old Kyle Limberhand told The Billings Gazette. "They were locked up for five days with no food or water or heat. They knew they were going to die, but they didn't want to die that way." The run started six days ago near Fort Robinson. It ended in Busby, on the reservation. Get the Story:
