Mountain lion attack worries Lummi grandmother

A grandmother from the Lummi Nation of Washington is worried that a mountain lion who attacked her dog is still on the loose on the reservation.

Lovie Hillaire was at home on December 28 when her dogs started barking wildly. She went outside and saw a mountain lion attack her 11-year-old Sheltie named Hawk.

Hawk survived -- after lots of stitches and staples -- but Hillaire says the tribe's Law & Order officers haven't even contacted her to find out about the incident. She is especially worried since her granddaughter is moving in with her soon.

This isn't the Hillaire has come close to a mountain lion. Three years ago, she said another one of her dogs protected her disabled husband from an attack.
