Blackfeet family sues BIA over freezing death
The Bureau of Indian Affairs is being sued over the death of a William West Wolf, a member of the Blackfeet Nation of Montana.

West Wolf was being held in a BIA detention facility on the reservation when he was released at 2am on February 11, 2007, when the temperature was near zero degrees. He never made it home and was found frozen to death six days later.

West Wolf's family says the BIA is to blame for his death. They are seeking $20 million in a negligence lawsuit. "It is the responsibility of law enforcement to care for a person when he is in their custody, not put him in harm's way," the family's attorney told The Great Falls Tribune.
