San Pasqual Band weighs disenrollment dispute
About 80 people could be kicked out of the San Pasqual Band of Mission Indians in California. Ron Mast, a tribal member, says the group does not have blood ties to the tribe. He says they are made up of descendants of a man who was adopted. "They are not my family," Mast told The North County Times. "They have no blood of the band." A consultant hired by the tribe backed up the claim. But a final decision rests with the Bureau of Indian Affairs. More than family is at stake in the dispute.
