A 70-year-old Navajo medicine man faces an 18-month sentence for pleading guilty to the rape of a 15-year-old girl.
David Filfred of Utah admitted that he raped the girl in 2002. He previously denied sexual contact with the girl, who became pregnant. DNA tests showed the child to be Filfred's.
The crime occurred in Farmington, New Mexico. Authorities at first thought the rape occurred on the Navajo Nation.
