The House Natural Resources Committee is holding a hearing this Thursday on two bills that would distribute a judgment fund for the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe
H.R.2306 and H.R.3699 each distribute the funds in trust account JA1041696 to six bands of the Chippewa Tribe. The funds derive from a Court of Federal Claims judgment of $20,000 for the loss of tribal lands.
H.R.2306 distributes the money based on the membership of each band. Under H.R.3699, each band gets the same amount.
The hearing takes place at 10am in Room 1324 of the Longworth House Office Building. It will be broadcast on the Internet.
