Man sentenced to 70 months for death of daughter

Joseph Moses Begs-His-Own, a Sioux/Tonkawa man from Oklahoma, was sentenced to 70 months in prison for the death of his four-month-old daughter.

Begs-His-Own, 29, pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter for the July 2004 death of his daughter. The crime occurred at the Fort Oakland Indian Housing Area in Tonkawa.

Begs-His-Own faced 10 years in prison but Virginia Combrink, a former president of the Tonkawa Tribe, and others in the community urged a lighter sentence They said the death of the girl was an accident.
