UND poster campaign boycotted over 'Sioux'

The University of North Dakota's "Beyond Beads and Feathers" poster campaign has been indefinitely delayed.

The first round of the campaign highlighted successful Indian students and alumni at UND. Posters were distributed to tribal colleges around the state.

The second round was to feature 14 UND graduates who are past or present tribal college presidents. But all of them have refused to appear due to the school's continued use of the "Fighting Sioux" nickname and logo.

UND is moving towards eliminating the name and logo but appears to be waiting until a three-year deadline in a court settlement expires.
