White Earth Nation Chairwoman Erma J. Vizenor delivered the fourth annual State of the Nation last Friday. Vizenor said the tribe is in a strong financial shape. "Nothing has come easy. Hard work, sacrifice, dedication and a vision for the future have made our achievements possible," she told a large crowd at the Shooting Star Casino and Event Center, The Detroit Lakes Tribune reported. Vizenor said the tribe is pursuing alternative energy projects, including a $2 million wind turbine. The tribe is conducting a comprehensive study to address low achievement and high dropout rates and has a slew of construction projects lined up, including a $15 million new tribal headquarters.
