Secretary Dirk Kempthorne will testify about the Interior Department's fiscal year 2009 budget before the House Interior Appropriations subcommittee on Thursday.
Kempthorne is seeking $10.7 billion for the department. The request for the Bureau of Indian Affairs is $2.2 billion, or $99.9 million below current levels. The request for the Office of Special Trustee for American Indians is $181.6 million, or $7.7 million below current levels.
The hearing takes place at 10am in Room B-308 of the Rayburn House Office Building. There is no available webcast.
