Mille Lacs Band shuts child care centers after incident

The MIlle Lacs Band of Ojibwe in Minnesota closed two child care centers on the reservation after a reported sexual assault.

The tribe said the centers will remain closed until the investigation into the alleged assault is complete. Authorities suspect a boy between 8 and 10 years old assaulted a 3-year-old boy at one of the centers on January 23.

The tribe does not own or operate the centers. They are operated by New Horizon Academy, which leases space from casinos across the nation.
