Members of the Tonkawa Tribe of Oklahoma will vote for a new slate of leaders on Monday.
Tribal members drafted a petition to force the election after President Anthony Street was arrested. Police in Blackwell found 1.75 grams of methamphetamine, 1 gram of cocaine and an undisclosed amount of marijuana in his hotel room.
"We couldn't see a future with someone like that leading us," presidential candidate Sarah Nelsen told The Oklahoman.
In addition to president, tribal members will vote for vice president and secretary treasurer.
