A well-known caregiver from the Lake Babine Nation in British Columbia was killed on Monday morning in a two-vehicle collision.
Brenda Levick, 50, was on her way to a medical appointment when her car spun into a truck. She was killed, along with her adopted children Starla Antoine, 12, and David Crocker, 10, and her two foster children, Dean and Keanan Thomas, 9 and 11 respectively.
Levick, who was battling cancer, was well known for taking care of children in her community. "She was one person you could depend on and rely on to be there in times of crisis. Losing Brenda is a real tragedy to this community," Lake Babine Chief Betty Patrick told CBC News.
The driver of the truck was not injured. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police said snowy conditions and poor visibility may have led to the crash.
