An Inuit woman from Labrador was held naked for four days in jail cell, the second incident of its kind in less than a year..
Emily Jararuse, 41, was held in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police lockup in Happy Valley-Goose Bay on various charges. Her Inuit interpreter said she was shocked to find out the woman didn't have any clothes.
"I'm an elder. I've seen abuse all my life, and this was a very bad case of abuse," interpreter Mary Adams told CBC News.
The RCMP said Jararuse started taking off her clothes and threatened to harm herself. If that's true, Adams said the woman should have been placed in special care and not put in a jail cell.
The same lockup in Happy Valley-Goose Bay held another Native woman for two days without clothes.
