Winona LaDuke's Mercedes powered by fry bread

Ojibwe environmental activist Winona LaDuke drives a 1983 Mercedes-Benz but it's not your usual luxury car.

LaDuke's Mercedes was modified to run on biodiesel. "It is the first fry bread power Mercedes Benz," she said at Central Michigan University, The Midland Daily News reported.

LaDuke spoke as part of the school's Native America Heritage Month. She talked about indigenous views of the environment and efforts to protect land on the White Earth Ojibwe Reservation in Minnesota, where she lives.
