Kempthorne promotes Indian education initiative

Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne will kick off an Indian education initiative today with the help of Indian students.

Students from 20 Bureau of Indian Education schools are in Washington, D.C., to promote a reading program. "BIE READS" seeks to increase reading proficiency in grades K-3.

Kempthorne and the students will read to each other at the main Interior Department building at 1:30pm. Assistant secretary Carl Artman will also attend.
