House overrides Bush veto on water resources bill

The House voted 361-54 on Tuesday to override President Bush's veto of a popular $23 billion water resources bill.

The tally was 90 votes more than the two-thirds needed, as Republicans joined Democrats in overriding the veto. The Senate is expected to take up the legislation as early as today.

The bill includes water projects for the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe and the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe, both of South Dakota. There are also provisions for a tribal water partnership programs.
