A Native rapper who boasted of his gang experience and who has been convicted of domestic violence was released on Monday pending a trial on weapons charges.
Robin Favel, a member of the Piapot First Nation of Saskatchewan, is charged in connection with a three-hour standoff at his home in Regina. But the trial was called off because most of the witnesses failed to show up.
"There's no case there, man," Favel told CBC News. "They got nothing."
Favel was released under certain conditions. He may not get a new trial for weeks or even months, CBC News said.
Saskatchewan has the highest rate of Native gang activity, according to government reports.
