Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma expands eagle aviary

The Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma has expanded its eagle aviary due to increased need.

The tribe opened the Gray Snow Eagle House in 2006 with a $250,000 grant from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Now the tribe is using $50,000 of its own funds to expand the sanctuary.

The expansion will allow the tribe to rehabilitate up to 15 eagles at one time. Vice Chairman Linda Big Soldier said the tribe was getting more and more requests to care for eagles.

"There were so many, we were heartbroken," Big Soldier told The Tulsa World.. "There was no choice, really."
