Don Garnier, a council member for the Oglala Sioux Tribe of South Dakota, has been indicted on federal drug charges.
Garnier, 38, is accused of possessing marijuana with intent to distribute, conspiracy and aiding and abetting a crime. The charges stems from an incident in New Mexico on September 19.
Garnier was the passenger in a car that was pulled over by state police. Authorities found 21 pounds of marijuana in the trunk.
Anthony Leo Vocu, 42, the driver, was charged with same crimes as Garnier.
