Pascua Yaqui Tribe removes chairwoman

The Pascua Yaqui Tribe of Arizona has officially removed Herminia Frias as chairwoman.

Frias was suspended a month ago over an ethics complaint. The council voted 7-3 on Wednesday to remove her from office.

Frias, the first woman to lead the tribe, plans to file suit in tribal court to protest the action. She said the council failed to achieve a two-thirds majority to remove her -- but the council wouldn't allow her to vote.
