Cochiti Pueblo artist debuts latest fashion line

Virgil Ortiz, a Cochiti Pueblo artist, debuted his latest fashion line in Santa Fe, New Mexico, on Thursday night.

Ortiz, 38, calls the line "Sauvage Primitif." He is selling it for the first time at a boutique in Santa Fe called Ursa.

“It’s the first Virgil Ortiz boutique in the whole world,” Ursula Gebert , the owner of the store, told The Santa Fe New Mexican. “Hopefully, there will be 300 more in the next week. He’s extremely talented, he can do anything.”

Ortiz comes from a well-known family of potters from Cochiti. He has worked with fashion designer Donna Karan.
