Tribal canoes make final landing at Lummi Nation

More than 50 canoes representing tribes from the Pacific Northwest reach their final destination today.

The Lummi Nation of Washington is hosting the week-long celebration. It's being called the largest Intertribal Canoe Journey since the event started in 1989.

Canoes came from as far away as British Columbia. Some started their journey as early as July 7. Others began the Paddle to Lummi in late July.

The week's events include a treaty discussion, nightly dinners, a youth tournament and a giveaway. The celebration ends August 5.
