The opening day of the 46th annual World Eskimo-Indian Olympics drew an estimated 1,500 people to Anchorage.
The games are being held in Anchorage for the first time. Participants were excited to share their culture with Alaska's largest city.
Wednesday's events included the toe kick, the one-hand reach, the kneel jump, the race of the torch and the women's blanket toss. Today's highlights include the Eskimo stick pull, the Alaskan high kick, the greased pole walk and the Miss World Eskimo Indian Olympics speeches.
The WEIO runs through Saturday.
