Coeur d'Alene woman punished for husband's death

Teresa M. Allen, a member of the Coeur d'Alene Tribe of Idaho, was sentenced to two years in prison for her husband's death.

Allen, 43, entered an Alford plea to one charge of second-degree manslaughter. She was accused of killing Dennis W. Coffey in October 2000.

In the Alford plea, Allen denied guilt but acknowledged she could have been convicted of the charge. The evidence included a letter from the couple's 17-year-old daughter, who said Allen pushed Coffey down the stairs.
