The Puyallup Tribe of Washington met with National Democratic Party Chairman Howard Dean on Tuesday.
Dean had lunch with tribal leaders at the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma. He talked about getting more tribal members to run for public office and asked about the tribe's anti-gang efforts, Chairman Herman Dillon said.
He was looking for how we can work together,” Dillon told The Tacoma News Tribune.
The Puyallup Tribe has contributed over $155,000 to federal campaigns since 1996, with most of the money going to Democrats. Statewide, the tribe has donated $324,000 since 2004.
