Alaska Native corporation hits $1B in revenues

Bristol Bay Native Corp. has become the second Alaska Native regional corporation to reach $1 billion in revenues.

The corporation, which represents Aleut, Eskimo and Athabascan shareholders from the Bristol Bay region, didn't make a big announcement about the milestone. But people were excited nonetheless.

"For me it means the Native community and the corporations are gaining momentum," shareholder Darcy Bennett told The Anchorage Daily News.

Arctic Slope Regional Corp hit the $1 billion mark in 2000 and is nearing $2 billion in revenues. NANA Regional Corp. expects to reach $1 billion soon.
