Pueblo woman to lead Native WIC organization

Charlene Anglada, a member of Pojoaque Pueblo in New Mexico, has been elected the chairwoman of the National Indian and Native American WIC Coalition.

Anglada became involved with the Women, Infants and Children program at the Department of Agriculture as a coordinator for the Eight Northern Indian Pueblos Council. She said she wants to address health problems among Native Americans.

WIC promotes breastfeeding and provides health education and services for pregnant women and children under age 5
