Saginaw Chippewa Tribe won't change official name

Officially, the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe is still known as the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe.

The Michigan tribe started calling itself the Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Nation in some press releases and announcements. But the tribal constitution still refers to the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe.

Rather than make the change, tribal leaders have stuck with the official name. Chief Fred Cantu said the use of multiple names could have been confusing.

In related news, the tribe now requires all licensed fireworks dealers to sell at one location, near the fire station and the casino..
