DVD pirating operation on Rosebud Reservation

Two women were sentenced for a DVD pirating operation on the Rosebud Sioux Reservation in South Dakota.

Rena Cummins, 61, and Violet Little Elk were indicted on a copyright infringement and aiding and abetting charge in federal court. They allegedly had 774 pirated DVDs.

Cummins, who is from New Mexico, was sentenced to two years probation. Little Elk agreed to pay $500 in restitution to the Motion Picture Association of America and will spend nine months in pretrial diversion.
