The Fallon Paiute-Shoshone Tribe of Nevada is diversifying its economy with the help of a gas station. The tribe mainly relied on agriculture. But the Fox Peak Station, located on trust land in Fallon, will help the tribe fund programs and expand services, Chairman Alvin Moyle said. Fox Peak opened in 2000 and employs about two dozen people. Taxes on the sale of tobacco go directly to the tribe while gasoline taxes are shared with the state and federal government. To expand the operation, the tribe is adding a Quiznos sandwich shop at the station and is exploring other economy development opportunities. Get the Story:
