The Ute Tribe of Utah has signed an agreement with an Indiana energy company that could lead to development of a $300 million crude-oil refinery.
The tribe has vast black-wax crude oil reserves on its reservation. But black-wax is more difficult to develop than other types of crude.
That's where Calumet Specialty Products Partners comes in. The firm will help the tribe look into developing the reserves, with the potential for a refinery in the future.
