Puyallup woman recovers with help of loving family

Just days after giving birth and weeks before her wedding, Liz Ward-Sneatlum was the victim of a drunk-driving accident in Tacoma, Washington.

Doctors feared Ward-Sneatlum, 44, would be a quadriplegic. Her back was broken in six spots and her neck was broken in three spots.

But the Puyallup woman is on her way to recovery, thanks to surgery that repaired her spinal cord and the support and love of her family. She was married in the hospital to Robert Satiacum last week.

“I’ve relied on the faith of my creator and the love that Rob and I have," she told The Tacoma News-Tribune.

Ward-Sneatlum hasn't been able to see her newborn son, Robert Kyle Satiacum Jr, since the February 26 accident. He was born five weeks early, but doctors say he is healthy.

Charles Roberts was charged with vehicular assault, failure to remain at an injury accident, attempting to elude police and DUI. . He had been reportedly drinking with friends on his 21st birthday before he slammed into the back carrying Ward-Sneatlum and Satiacum.
