New Mexico tribes drop lawsuit over ski area expansion

Two New Mexico tribes have dropped their lawsuit against the U.S. Forest Service for approving the expansion of a ski area.

Tesuque Pueblo and Nambe Pueblo sued the agency and the Santa Fe Ski Co. They said the addition of a ski lift would harm sacred sites and infringe on their religious practices.

The Forest Service approved the lift and Santa Fe Ski completed the expansion this past year. The tribes agreed to drop their complaint and are working on an agreement to address their concerns.
