About 800 people attended the funeral of Andrew Old Elk, the Crow Tribe's secretary who died on Sunday at the age of 62.
Old Elk was remembered for the emphasis he placed on education. After graduating from Haskell in 1963, he earned two associate's degrees, a bachelor's degree and a master's degree.
Old Elk was also a tireless advocate for the tribe, having worked on natural resource and federal budget issues. "Hopefully we can continue his dreams and aspirations for the tribe," Crow Chairman Carl Venne said, The Billings Gazette reported.
