Two exhibits look at tribal history in Dakotas

Two exhibits that open in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, this month provide a glimpse into the histories of two tribes.

One exhibit, at the Washington Pavilion, features photos from the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation, located in North and South Dakota. Frank Bennet Fiske spent most of his life in the early 1900s taking pictures of tribal members there.

The second exhibit features more than 100 photos of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe. Taken by John Anderson between 1885 and 1930, the photos are accompanied by tribal members' histories and present-day photos.
