Navajo Nation college hosts observing station

One of the Navajo Nation's colleges is taking part in a project that measures atmospheric data across the world.

Dine College was chosen as an atmospheric data collection station due to its location. The school is on a mountain top and not near any forests.

The National Center for Atmospheric Sciences installed the data station atop Roof Butte in New Mexico. The station collects data on atmospheric gases and greenhouse gases.

Two power stations that generate greenhouse gases are located near the Navajo Nation. The tribe is planning to build one on the reservation in New Mexico.
