A man who was fleeing police on the Miccosukee Reservation in Florida died after being attacked by an alligator.
Witnesses said the man jumped into a pond despite signs warning of dangerous alligators. After three searches, his body was found last Friday, with teeth marks on the torso.
Tribal police said the man was suspected of burglarizing cars at the Miccosukee Resort and Convention Center. A second man has been arrested in connection with the incident.
As for the gator, whose nickname was "Poncho," the 9-foot long reptile is being examined and may have to be put down.
